Simple Solutions to Stop Rottweiler Chasing

Any responsible owner of a Rottweiler knows that this breed of dog is the type that is aggressive. It should be no surprise, then, that some Rottweilers just love to chase. And although we have to accept that this behavior is part of their aggressive nature, it could become a problem if your dog has taken to chasing small animals or even people! If you want to stop Rottweiler chasing, here are a few solutions that may be of help to you.

The best method is training your Rottweiler while he or she is still a pup, through the use of stern and consistent commands. However, if you are dealing with a more mature dog, there are plenty of other methods that you could try. This, of course, depends on just what your dog likes to chase. If your Rottweiler tends to chase cars, make sure that you keep him on a leash when he is outside. Never let your dog run outside freely and unsupervised. You should also train your dog to stay within the yard or his territory

If your dog tends to chase people around, especially when playing in the yard, do not encourage his behavior by indulging him in this sort of play. Chasing may be a fun way to play, but it instills aggressive behavior. Once he starts this play, turn your back to him and pay attention to him only when he has calmed down. If you have trained your dog to know the command “sit”, then this should be easy. Use this command when he starts chasing, and use it consistently.

By following these simple solutions to stop Rottweiler chasing, you keep from fostering or instilling the aggressive behavior in your Rottweiler, making him even more lovable and loyal than he already is.
